Night fishing on the Plym: Buddy up!

Dear Members,

I hope that everyone is well and safe, as are your loved ones.  I also hope that some of you have managed to take advantage of the loosening in lockdown, and our ability to fish again, and have managed to wet a line.

We are approaching the peak of sea trout season, and I wanted to make you aware of a most unfortunate incident that befell two anglers from our sister association, with rights to the stretch downstream of Plymbridge.  In an isolated incident, they were assaulted by a gang of youths while night fishing.  Police enquiries are ongoing.

in the meantime, as a precaution may I suggest that anglers planning a night session on our Plym stretch, arrange to go with a buddy.  Maintain social distancing of course, but make sure that you know where each other are on the bank, are within reach and assistance of one another, and are able to stay in touch by mobile phone if necessary.

Be safe, enjoy what the river has to offer this summer, be mindful of catch and release, and if you can without harming fish, take some photographs for our new website.

Kind regards,

Jason

Hon. Secretary
